Luis Muñoz nació en Granada en 1966 de cuya universidad es licenciado en Filología Hispánica y Filología Románica, y doctor en Literatura Española. En su ciudad natal dirigió el Aula de Literatura de la Universidad (1992-2000) y desde su fundación hasta su cierre (1992-2002) la revista de poesía Hélice. Entre 2001 y 2012 trabajó en Madrid como asesor de la Residencia de Estudiantes.
En 1994 preparó el libro colectivo El lugar de la poesía y ha traducido, entre otros autores, a Giuseppe Ungaretti (El cuaderno del viejo, Pre-Textos, 2000). En 2008 fue comisario de la exposición Gallo. Interior de una revista sobre la publicación dirigida en 1928 por Federico García Lorca.
Su obra poética hasta 2005 está recogida en el volumen Limpiar pescado. Poesía reunida 1991-2005. Ha publicado los libros de poemas Septiembre, Manzanas amarillas, El apetito, Correspondencias, Querido silencio y Vecindad. Ha recibido, entre otros, los premios Ciudad de Córdoba, Generación del 27 y Ojo Crítico.
Desde 2012 es profesor en la Universidad de Iowa, Estados Unidos. Vive entre Iowa City y Madrid.

Luis Muñoz was born in Granada in 1966. He has degrees in Hispanic Philology and Romance Philology, and a PhD in Spanish Literature. In his hometown he directed the University of Granada’s Aula de Literatura (1992-2000), as well as the poetry magazine Hélice, from its founding until its closure (1992-2002) . Between 2001 and 2012 he worked in Madrid as an advisor to the Residencia de Estudiantes.
In 1994 he edited the anthology El lugar de la poesía (The Place of Poetry) and he has translated, among other titles, El cuaderno del viejo(The Notebook of the Old Man) by Giuseppe Ungaretti(Pre-Textos, 2000). In 2008 he was curator of the exhibition Gallo. Interior de la una revista(Gallo. Interior of a magazine) about the publication edited in 1928 by Federico García Lorca.
His most recent books are Vecindad (Vicinity) and Querido silencio (Dear Silence). His poetic work until 2005 is gathered in the volume Limpiar pescado. Poesía reunida (Cleaning Fish. Collected Poems). He has published the books Septiembre (September), Manzanas amarillas (Yellow Apples), El apetito (The Appetite), Correspondencias (Correspondences). He has received, among others, the Ciudad de Córdoba, Generación del 27 and Ojo Crítico awards.
Since 2012 he has been a professor at the University of Iowa in the United States. He divides his time between Iowa City and Madrid.
